About Us

RWG, which celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2022, is the longest established writers’ group in the city. We are a friendly group of published and yet to be published individuals who meet once a fortnight.  The annual fee is £40, which can be paid in two instalments or pro rata for anyone joining part way through the year. Visitors are asked for a contribution of £2 per meeting until they make a decision about membership.
We are always happy to welcome potential new members and to co-operate with other writers’ groups over speakers, adjudications and social events. Any enquiries should be made to the Secretary on 0796 9381 079.

Where We Meet

Our current venue is St Wilfrid’s Community Centre, access being from Trinity Lane (just opposite Holy Trinity Infants’ School). We meet in Jervaulx, the room with the bay window, on alternate Wednesday evenings (see Programme) from 7.30 to 9.30 p.m.

Our friendly group meets once a fortnight in St Wilfrid’s Community Centre and is always open to new members from the Ripon area and beyond. Whether your interest is in poetry or prose, novels, short stories, plays, wacky humour, a more analytical style of writing, or just listening for the time being, you're very welcome.
